We have another great speaker lined up for our meeting, Zach Friend, Santa Cruz County Supervisor from the Second district. Prepare your questions, I know I will. I think I’ll ask if Santa Cruz County is planning to follow Monterey County’s lead that Monterey County will pay 50 % of the cost of Eucalyptus tree removal on private property. He will be able to provide us with up-to-date insight on many issues we have questions about . . . Like what is the scheduled completion date for the Highway 1 improvement project. . . If all works out to plan, we will have a second guest, Andy Danver, Vice President of Communications and Marketing from State SIR Governing Board. I’m sure he will be able to answer many questions regarding the changes to SIR. Depending upon questions, our meeting may run longer than the normally scheduled 2 O’clock adjournment timeu0026hellip;

Golf- 18 holes – Every Monday
Branch 104 plays golf every Monday at various courses. 18 hole membership application 2022 Schedule SIRS Golf Game Formats Additionally SIR offers away tournaments for all SIR NCGA Branch members. Each year we schedule several two or three day tournaments in various locations (e.g. Las Vegas, Reno, Solvang, San Diego, etc.). We also hold a State Scramble Team Championship in August and a State Individual Championship in October. Area and Division qualifying tournaments are held at various locations to determine participation in these two State Championships.

There is an afternoon 9-hole golf group on Mondays and Thursdays at Aptos Seascape that is organized by Doug Deaver. Call Doug (831) 662-3246 to get more information.

March 14th, 2022 To: All Sirs Time to see some more stuff… Travel seems to be building up all around the globe, particularly with smaller groups as considerable savings can be had. Here are three trips organized by Sir Branches where there is space available. For details, please use the email address or phone number listed for the organizer of each trip below. I need someone to help me design a survey we can send to our membership regarding travel. If you have some experience in developing surveys or know someone who does and might be interested please let me know ASAP. Also, if you’d like to help me out with some marketing ideas let me know about that too. Now is the time to start looking toward 2023. I am honored to be the Big SIR for 2023 and I look forward to continuing the good work of the Branch 104 SIR community. I hope this year brings even more good memories and fun times with your fellow SIR members. As the Big SIR, I am excited for our upcoming speakers and the many activities that our SIR community participates in. I sincerely hope as we begin the month of February that your hopes and goals are starting to progress to fruition. We are looking forward to a really fulfilling year, filled with activities, events and tours. Our speaker committee has some excellent speakers lined up who promise to be informative and engaging. A big thank you to SIR Larry Tartaglino for getting the ball rolling with his excellent presentation about Cuba. Our continuing goal is to expand our membership. It’s not hard, guys. . . just reach out to your friends and acquaintances. Remember, our Branch 104 provides a free lunch to first time guests. LUNCHEON PROGRAM Our speaker this month will be Chandra Morvay, a registered nurse who works in the Cardiac Rehab department of Dominican Hospital. She’s been an ER RN for 20 years and now works performing Cardiac Rehab and Diabetic Education. She will come to talk about lowering everyone’s risk for both heart disease and stroke. MARCH 2024 FENCEPOST APTOS, CAPITOLA u0026#038; RIO DEL MAR SIR BRANCH 104 “Just for the fun of it” LUNCH DATE: 3rd TUESDAY, MARCH19th AT 11:30 AM SEASCAPE GOLF COURSE MONARCH ROOM BIG SIR MESSAGE: BIG SIR RICK POWERS – “THE ROSTER’S CACA-DOODLE-DOO” I am looking forward to hearing our March speaker, Professor Anne Clunan from Stanford University and The Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA. She will share her expertise and insight on Russia and the coming world order after the current war in Ukraine. Invite new friends or old friends to the Professor’s talk. There will be plenty of questions and time for discussion. It will be refreshing to hear the answers from a learned expert. The presentation by Chandra Morvay at the February meeting was informative and engaging. Ms. Morvay gave a detailed and thought-provoking presentation that will help all of us as we meander through our lives. She presented current medical ideas and how to prevent future cardio issues. And she also gave us many ideas to use in our senior healthy life. I think it would be gratifying for her to know that I was approached by some of the members about starting a SIR’s new activityu0026hellip;

Our speaker team is continuing to arrange for excellent speakers to provide enlightening presentations for our luncheons. This month we will be hearing from a lady who will share her immediate family’s survival of the Holocaust. Kudos go to Taylor Scaletti, the Events Coordinator at Seascape, for her flexibility, and generosity shown to our group. Although we have not attained our break-even attendance level, yet. She has done her best to make the Monarch Room available to us. Kudos to you, our members of Branch 104, for continuing to extend invitations to friends and acquaintances to come investigate our meeting and become members. It is only through on-going recruitment and your efforts that we will continue to enjoy the spaciousness of the Monarch room. Happy June and soon to be summer. We have another great speaker lined up-John Ryan. John, from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, will join us for lunch and will be speaking to us about the whales we have offshore and the ecology of these fascinating mammals. We are planning to be in the large Monarch Room to enjoy another great luncheon with a choice of Southern Friend Chicken, Grilled Salmon Salad, or Western Veggie Salad. How does our luncheon contract with Seascape work? It is much like going out to your favorite restaurant for a nice meal. One comes in, sits down, and orders a meal from the menu. The meal is enjoyed, then you pay for it and leave. Our situation at Seascape is a bit different. The Branch books the entire restaurant! To deliver quality meals, the restaurant must place their food order ahead of time, usually a week, to ensure that all theu0026hellip;
