LUNCH DATE: 3rd TUESDAY, APRIL 16th AT 11:30 AM
SEASCAPE GOLF COURSE MONARCH ROOM
BIG SIR MESSAGE: BIG SIR RICK POWERS – “THE ROSTER’S CACA-DOODLE-DOO”
We’re off to a great start in 2024!
Our speaker team is continuing to arrange for excellent speakers to provide enlightening presentations for our luncheons. This month we will be hearing from a lady who will share her immediate family’s survival of the Holocaust.
Kudos go to Taylor Scaletti, the Events Coordinator at Seascape, for her flexibility, and generosity shown to our group. Although we have not attained our break-even attendance level, yet. She has done her best to make the Monarch Room available to us.
Kudos to you, our members of Branch 104, for continuing to extend invitations to friends and acquaintances to come investigate our meeting and become members. It is only through on-going recruitment and your efforts that we will continue to enjoy the spaciousness of the Monarch room. We need to continue to march towards gaining more members, new members to date: Chris Karzag, Frank Nigro and Tad Sterling . . . keep up the good work!
As a special side note wives and significant others are welcome to come hear our speaker after we are done with lunch at no charge. They should plan to arrive at 12:50 to be seated.
LUNCHEON PROGRAM:
Gitta Ryle will be the guest speaker for this month’s meeting. Gitta is 91 years old and was born to a Jewish family in 1932, a year before the Nazis seized power in Germany. Gitta and her sister, Renee, were placed on a train bound for France in 1939 after being separated from her parents in Austria. They were moved to many different households throughout the six years that followed the occupation of France. They reunited with their mother in 1946. They later learned that her father and grandparents were murdered in the camps. Gitta married and relocated to Southern California where she and her husband raised their three children. She moved to Santa Cruz in 1984.
She did not share her experiences for many years, but then decided to turn her experiences into teaching moments. She feels that it is very important to teach younger generations that this was all real and not fabricated, as some have claimed. The Holocaust was a real global atrocity and must never happen again.
Her story is powerful, with many pictures on screen. You will be moved by it.

GARY OING’S SHARING GOOD THOUGHTS WEBSITE (SGT):
Springtime & Shared Good Thoughts (SGT)
The official first day of “springtime” in 2024 occurred a few weeks ago. So even though we all may not be experiencing warm weather yet, let’s think about the new season and enjoy some of its sights and sounds.
Many inspiring spring quotes with beautiful pictures are on this website. If you are curious, click here — https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/life/g3372/spring-quotes
Now I want to share a short, beautiful, and relaxing “nature in spring” video. It highlights how Mother Nature transitions from winter to spring. I hope you enjoy it — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhHCcH7hyqo
Here is a “beauty of spring” video that I liked — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dK6EYTFq-hE
Spring is the time to be motivated to “get outside”. Here is a link showing many quotes on “nature’s beauty” by famous people that will help you do that — https://www.countryliving.com/life/entertainment/g18924890/nature-quotes
For me, this short video includes some great pictures of Paris and the voice of Frank Sinatra. This is my favorite song with the word “springtime” — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d8wztHhCrQ
One of my favorite “springtime in April” experiences was getting to walk the course at the Masters golf tournament in 2012. Click here to see a few beautiful pictures of that historic place — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augusta_National_Golf_Club#/media/File:AugustaNationalMastersLogoFlowers.jpg
And if you want to learn more about the flowers and plants at Augusta National, check out the names and pictures for each hole at — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augusta_National_Golf_Club#Course
Now you know more about flowers AND a great golf course!
As a reminder, you can find the above links and much more at Gary’s SGT website. I encourage you to save the link to the SGT website and visit it throughout the month to help remember my suggested topic of “Springtime”.

Let me know if you have found Internet content that you use for your “mental health”. If so, share those links with me and I can add them to my website.
Stay well and mentally happy by thinking good thoughts.
