Basic Rules of Cornhole Play
The following is an example of playing with two 2 person teams (A1/A2 and B1/B2):
- 2 Boards are placed 27 feet apart from front edge of board One to the front edge of the board Two. (Or as space allows)
- Partner A1 and Partner B1 will be at board One and Partner A2 and Partner B2 will be at board Two.
- Players remain at their assigned board for the entire match.
- To begin the match: Partner A1 and Partner B1 will each have 4 bags. They will alternate their throws until all 8 bags are thrown.
- Players must deliver the bag with an under-hand release.
- The thrower's feet must remain behind the front edge of the board at the release of the bag.
- Any thrown bag where the thrower's foot/feet are in front of the board will be an illegal throw and the bag result will count as a miss regardless of where it lands.
- Points will be totaled after all 8 bags are thrown.
- 1 point will be awarded for any bag landing and remaining on the board surface.
- 3 points will be awarded for any bag that passes completely through the hole.
- Then Partner A2 and Partner B2 at board Two play their team's 4 bags, alternating throws until all 8 bags are thrown.
- Points are totalled once again for each team.
- Match play continues back and forth until one of the teams reaches 21 points to win the match.
