Wednesday, May 21, 10:00 am, Shell Ridge Open Space
Come join us as we hike Shell Ridge Open Space in Walnut Creek. We’ll be combining the Fossil Hill Loop trail, the Indian Creek trail, and the Corral Springs trail to form a 3.5 to 4.0 mile loop hike. Considered an easy hike but with up to 600 feet elevation gain/loss. There is not much shade on this hike so please bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. Trekking poles will be a good idea as well.
Directions to the Trailhead:
From Concord, travel west on Ygnacio Valley Road until 1/2 mile past John Muir Hospital and turn left onto Homestead Avenue. In 0.2 mile, turn left onto Marshall Drive. Continue on Marshall Drive for 1.0 mile to the end of the road. Park along either side of the street.
From the Hwy 680/24 interchange, go north on hwy 680, take the Ygnacio Valley Road exit, turn right at the light onto Ygnacio Valley Road, continue approximately one mile and turn right onto Homestead Avenue. In 0.2 mile, turn left onto Marshall Drive. Continue on Marshall Drive for 1.0 mile to the end of the road. Park along either side of the street.
There is no restroom at the trailhead. Bring hat, sunscreen, water, trekking poles.
