Our last hike for the 2024 season will be close to home, in Mitchell Canyon, Mt. Diablo, along the Mitchell Canyon Road and the Globe Lily trail. This is an easy to moderate hike with a cumulative climb of 900 feet. The hike will encompass approximately 4.0 miles.

We have hiked this out-and-back before, along the Mitchell Canyon Road, but we’re going to change it up a bit on the way back by detouring onto the Globe Lily trail for one-half mile.

The hike begins at the Mitchell Canyon Staging area at the end of Mitchell Canyon Road.

Bring hat, water, sunscreen and trekking poles (optional)

Directions:

From Walnut Creek, drive north on Ygnacio Valley Road (towards Clayton) to Clayton Road. Turn right onto Clayton Road and continue for approximately one mile to Mitchell Canyon Road. Turn right onto Mitchell Canyon Road and continue approximately 1.5 miles to the end of the road. A parking fee may be necessary to enter Mt. Diablo State Park. Parking at the Staging area will be on the left in 100 yards.
