Golf is the most popular activity in Branch 19. At this time we have approximately 50 golfers in our branch, and the number is growing. Handicaps range from around 4 up to 36. All indexes are welcome.
Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch is considered to be our home course. We usually golf there every other Tuesday, while playing other Bay Area courses on the alternate Tuesday’s. The alternate courses range from Eagle Vines, near Napa, to Rancho Solano and Paradise Valley in Fairfield, Rio Vista, Brentwood, Deer Ridge, Shadow Lakes, down to Callippe Preserve in Pleasanton, and Tilden Park in the Berkeley Hills.
We have a great group of gentlemen who enjoy golfing together. Our branch boasts having the SIR State golf champion for 2010. His name is Duane Deonigi. He achieved that honor at Poppy Hills in November 2010, where he also had a hole-in-one.
We have occasional inter branch tournaments, but mostly just stroke play.
Members who wish to participate in tournaments must join the N.C.G.A. through our branch, and establish an index.
Each year tournaments are scheduled at the SIR State level in Las Vegas, Reno and on to Solvang. Then the and a State Scramble Team Championship at Poppy Ridge. Then on to the State Individual Championship at Poppy Hills. Rounding out these events, and for those who wish to, there are two Mexican Riviera cruises with golf tournaments included en route.
Area and Division qualifying tournaments are held at various locations to determine participation in the two State Championships.
