About SIR 15 title

History

Sons in Retirement, Inc., was first formed in Amador County as Branch 96 in Jackson. They received their state charter in 1982.  Branch 96 membership grew to over 300, and it was difficult for some members to get to Jackson, especially in winter months. As a result it was decided that a new "Upcountry" branch should be formed, particularly for members that lived in the "upcountry" areas.

In July 1999, under the leadership of the late Ben Arntz, and with help from Branch 96, a new SIR branch was formed and assigned branch number 15. The branch was first called Mace Meadow Branch 15, and received their state charter in early 2000. As the branch grew over the years, the logistic challenges became significant, so in 2012 Branch 15 changed their meeting location and Branch name from "Mace Meadow" to "Up-Country". This more accurately described the area and its members.

Today

Currently Branch 15 has a membership in the 120 to 130 range, with a majority of the members, and their guests, attending our monthly luncheons as well as our many activities and events.

SIR Branch 15 meets the third Thursday of each month at Our Lady Of The Pines Church, Haran Hall.  Our two annually scheduled events are the Ladies Day picnic in August and a Christmas party in early December.
