What is SIR

We are the local SIR branch, a place where men in Vallejo, Benicia and American Canyon area of Solano County can have fun together through activities and companionship. Our Branch has about 130 members ranging in age from their 50’s to 90’s. We meet monthly, usually in Vallejo, and have continuing activities such as Golf, Bowling, Bocce Ball, Bridget, Wine Tasting and various special events including trips to local attractions, and areas of special interest.

The SIR organization itself is a non-profit corporation for men with over 9,000 members in 90 Branches throughout Northern California.

We prohibit discussions of politics and religion or the selling of anything to any member. All branch leadership and our State administration is done by volunteer members.

We assist men in making new friends through SIR activities, having fun is our goal.  Membership is open to men, regardless of age, race, color or religion.

History of Branch 88

Branch 88 was founded in the 1980s and has gained in membership steadily over the past years, some due to combining with another branch. We currently have over 130 members and a large number of activities, that are well attended. Our members are from varied backgrounds, professional, and non-professional, with a single goal of enjoying our retirement by staying active and enjoying the companionship and friendship of other retired or semi-retired men.

The branch’s leadership consists of the following five officers:

  • Big Sir (Branch President)– Acts as the President of the Branch
  • Little Sir (Branch Vice-President)– Acts as the Vice President and is responsible for arranging programs for the luncheons.
  • Treasurer– Responsible for the Branch’s finances.
  • Assistant Treasurer – Assists the Treasurer in financial matters.
  • Secretary– Responsible for taking Board minutes and communication with the State organization.

In addition, our leadership team includes five Directors not included above. Together these positions make up our Branch Executive Committee (BEC) which acts as our Board of Directors for all Branch matters.

How to Join

The Only Membership Requirements:

1. Be a man who is friendly and enjoy people and activities.

2. Be willing to participate in the functions of the branch.

3. Be willing to invite others to join SIR.
