The SIRS February28th Bicycle Ride
We met at Blackford Elementary School on Leigh Ave. On the other side of the school was the end of Willow Street. We started on the trail that passed the school, at about 10:15AM
The 4 riders were John Ranallo, Dennis Newhaus, Fred Jones and Fred’s guest Pete Narlesky. Pete worked with Fred at PG&E.
We were courteous with the walkers and joggers. We called out to them, so we could pass on the left, with no incidents.
We all rode at a comfortable pace, enjoying the ride and scenery. While not leaving anyone far behind. We had small breaks along the way to re-group and have water breaks.
We rode 9 miles going up stream on the paved Los Gatos Creek Trail past perk ponds, a dog park, past practice fly fishing casting ponds and threw Vasona Lake to Main Street. We had lunch at Willow Street Pizza in Los Gatos. There was nothing the gears couldn’t handle on the bikes, except the grade going up to the dam. John Ranallo and Fred Jones rode e-bikes, Dennis Neuhaus and Pete Narlesky rode standard geared bikes.
We arrived at Willow Street Pizza about 11:30 AM. We had great food while watching our bikes from the patio. We had fun interesting conversations while getting to know each other.
We started back to the beginning of the ride to Blackford Elementary School about 12:45PM. We took a more direct ride going down stream following the paved Los Gatos Creek trail with some up and down gentle grades. We arrived back at our destination about 1:45PM. The ride was about16 miles and took about 3 3/4 hours with breaks and lunch
Everyone said they had a Great Time and looks forward to the next ride.
