SIRS APRIL BICYCLE ACTIVITY
(The ride will be on the last Friday April 25th)
The ride will mostly be on the Monterey Peninsula Recreational Trail along the coast. (The ride will start at the trail parking lot across the street from the entrance gate to the Naval Post Graduate School, at #1 University Circle in Monterey.) The ride will end about 7 miles South, at Asilomar Beach View, about 14 mi. round trip. We will ride by Dennis The Menace Lake Park, to the old Fisherman’s Wharf and ride to the end of the northern pier at the harbor. Then to the end of the southern pier, south of the Old Fisherman’s Wharf, where we will see hundreds of seals on a rocky point at the end of the pier.
We will ride through Cannery Row next to the shore. We will ride to Lovers Point in Pacific Grove along the coast on the Monterey Peninsula Recreational Trail. We will ride past Lucas Point, past Pacific Grove Golf Links and past Point Pinos Light house, built in 1855, located on Asilomar Ave. We will ride alongside of Ocean View Dr to Pacific Grove Rocky View in the bike lane along the beautiful rocky coast.
We will ride in a bike lane alongside of Sunset Dr, past Sunset Beach to Asilomar Beach View.
We can have lunch about 12:00 PM on the way back at a restaurant in Cannery Row, while keeping an eye on our bikes.
The ride will be about 14 miles round trip on semi level trails and bike lanes. We will be back at the start of the ride about 2:00PM.We will be back in San Jose about 3:30PM
Electric and standard bikes are welcome.
I have room for 5 bikes and 5 riders in my truck.
We can commute from my house in South San Jose close to Highway 101. Rendezvous at my house at 8:45AM and leave at 9:00AM. Start ride in Monterey about 10:15.
