9-Hole Golf Group
SIR 116 9-Hole Golf Club membership is open to all Branch members and guests regardless of your golfing ability. We play every Wednesday starting at 10:00am. We rotate playing Buchanan Fields, Concord, Pine Meadows, Martinez and Diablo Hills, Walnut Creek. The 9 Hole Golf Club is organized into a single flight. The weekly Champion is the player with the lowest net score. The weekly Champion is awarded 3 points, 2nd place 2 and 3rd place 1. The annual Champion will be the golfer with the highest point total. 18-Hole Golf Group
Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) membership is made available to all SIR Branch 116 members. One’s Index is established through the NCGA. Our 18-Hole golf group is composed of four Flights, based on one’s Index. Each of the four Flights have semi annual in Flight competition for points, with the Flight winners for each half of the year playing off for the Flight Championship. We have weekly outings, typically every Monday, and play at public and private courses throughout the Bay Area. In addition, the 18-Hole group conducts special events (e.g. match play, scrambles, etc.) throughout each year. We also participate in Regional and Area qualifying tournaments for advancement to the state SIRS golf competition. Coordination of the 18-Hole golf group is done through Bernie Wroblewski - Chairman and Jimmy Johnson - Assistant Chairman.
Golf Lessons
2024 is the fourth year that SIR Branch 116 has supplemented its golf program with a Clinic supported by a dedicated golf pro. The Clinic is focused on giving the individual golfer an opportunity to “tune up” their game ... it is designed to help our golfers (low and high handicappers) improve their consistency and to generally improve their performance. The pro also offers a discount to SIR members for private lessons.
