<\/meta>SIR, Inc. is a California non-profit organization that provides social activities for active seniors whose mission is \u201cTo improve the lives of our members through fun activities, luncheons and events while making Friends for Life.<\/i><\/b>\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The parent organization was formed in 1958 in San Mateo.\u00a0 <\/span>There are currently more than 8,000 members in about 80 branches stretching from Bakersfield to Mt. Shasta and Lake Tahoe to San Francisco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The corporation\u2019s copyrighted insignia is the rooster. The late Damian L. Reynolds, who conceived the idea of Sons In Retirement, stated, \u201cOf all the creatures on earth, none expresses independence and dignity with more sureness and aplomb than a rooster. The majesty of his presence is felt in every barnyard, and when he crows, he can be heard for miles, not a fainthearted crow, but with a noise that calls attention to his majestic being.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each SIR Branch is an independent 501(c)(4) corporation. SIR is a social organization. It does no fundraising, has no religious affiliation and is non-political.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
