It was built in 1897 and redesigned by Alister Mackenzie in 1929 to create a challenging golf course. Nearly 200 golfers entered the multiple events that made up the qualifying rounds. The top 20 seniors (55-64) and top 20 super seniors (65+) qualified for the Championship at the Claremont. Richard placed 16th among the super seniors to earn his berth. At Claremont, Richard and his competitors faced windy and rainy conditions along with bunkers that required a periscope to see the flag stick. Several golfers got so frustrated by the weather that they walked off the course. As Joe Cioni would say, “Champions adjust.” Undaunted by the weather, Richard finished second and if only a pesky putt or two had dropped he would have won the tournament. Richard’s second-place finish in the final event bumped his season-ending standing from sixteenth to seventh place in the NCGA Senior Series Championship.

Congratulations to SIR Richard McGrath for garnering recognition for Branch 35!

Branch 5 plays Golf with Branch 16 Each Thursday To join, Contact Phil Yurtis at 650 508 9651, Send Email Joint Golf Schedule [Branches 5, 16, 51] for 2026 – by Rich King (Click Here to see daily Golf Schedule … Continue reading →

["post-352","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
