Our February speaker will be Jacob Gillian from Cal Fire.
With 25 years of experience in the fire service, Jacob has built a
distinguished career.
Jacob's fire service journey began with the U.S. Forest Service Hotshots,
where he spent seven years honing his skills. In 2007, he joined Cal Fire,
where he spent three years with the Vina Helitack crew and worked as a
firefighter in the Siskiyou, Tehama-Glenn, and Butte Units.
In 2016, Jacob earned his promotion to Fire Captain, spending two years in
the Humboldt-Del Norte Unit before transferring back to Butte. Over the next
three years, he served as a Fire Captain at the Feather Falls Station and
Bangor Station in Butte Unit Battalion 5. During this time, he played a key
role in the initial attack on several major fires, including the Camp Fire,
Bear Fire, Dixie Fire, and most recently, the Park Fire.
At the end of 2020, Jacob transitioned to the role of Defensible Space
Supervisor and Public Information Officer.
Jacob’s career reflects his deep commitment to protecting his community
and his expertise in both firefighting and public safety.
