SIR Inc. (formerly Sons In Retirement, but now open to all men, retired or not) exists to improve the lives of its members through fun activities and events, while making friends for life.
SIR is a nonprofit, public-benefit organization consisting of retired and semiretired men who meet once a month for a luncheon meeting. There is usually a speaker, or some other entertainment, at each of these meetings. Damian Reynolds Branch No. One is one of 85 other branches of SIR throughout Central and Northern California.
The membership consists of men from all professions, including business, science, engineering, lawyers, teachers, medical doctors, truckers, florists, educators, builders, manufacturers, firemen, bankers, military men, and many others. The only requirements for being a member are that one should have an acceptable moral character, be sponsored by an active member, and attend the regular monthly meetings, unless prevented by illness or absence from the area.
Branch One of SIR is located in San Mateo, California, and meets for their luncheon meetings in the San Mateo Elks Lodge No. 1112 located at 229 West 20th Avenue, San Mateo.
Each SIR branch sponsors many many activities and interest groups. At Branch One, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy, including groups that focus on computer technology, genealogy, economics, investments, golfing, tennis, bowling, and other topics. You’re welcome to join as many of these groups as you like. There are also many travel opportunities sponsored by SIR. These range from evening theater trips to photo shoots to two-week trips overseas.
