Walking Tours

We schedule and organize SIR sponsored visits to museums and interest sites located in the immediate Bay Area.  Every year we do five events, roughly one every other month.  Last year we visited the California State Park in Benicia, Ruth Bancroft gardens in Walnut Creek, the California Museum in Oakland, and the Preservation Park & Pardee Home also in Oakland.

The Walking Tours are open to all SIR Members and to your immediate family (wives, significant other, children and grand children).  Typically we meet at the site at around 10 AM, and we do a group photo.  Our site visit begins at 10:30, and we always arrange docent lead tours.  Entrance fees and docent costs are roughly $15 per person.  At noon we break for an Ad Hoc lunch.  We look for casual local venues.   Your participation in the lunch is totally discretionary, and you pay your own tab.

This is an excellent activity for new members.  Please feel free to call Greg Hughes, (925) 998-5650, if you have any questions about our Walking Tours and venues.
