Branch 147 Computer and Smartphone Club

The Computer and Smartphone Club meets the last Thursday of every month except December at the Petaluma Senior Center from 12:00 – 1:30 PM. The Center is located at 211 Novak Drive, Petaluma. There is no charge to attend.

Each month, a different topic that members can use to advance their computer or smartphone skills is discussed. The focus is on subjects of primary interest to seniors. Meetings are led by knowledgeable people who are prepared to talk about the issues and answer questions about the topic of the day. Once or twice a year, a meeting is devoted to Q&A when attendees are encouraged  to ask questions about computers, smartphones, tablets and the apps or operating systems that run on them. Members of any SIR Branch and their significant others are invited to attend. If you would like to be placed on an email list to receive notices of future meetings, please email mike@pamg.com with your preferred email address and your first and last names.

Past topics have included:

  • How to be Your Own Tech Support Expert
  • Cloud Computing
  • Computer Hardware Fundamentals
  • Cutting the Cable TV Cord
  • Upgrading to Windows 10
  • Digital Photography
  • Online Resources for Seniors

The May 2022 meeting topic is Must Have Utilities for PC and Mac. Utilites are small apps that make a computer more secure and/or more convenient to use

The June 2022 meeting on the 30th will focus on Buying a Smartphone and Carrier. Most users have no clue what phone to buy or what carrier to choose. We will unravel this conundrum and cover all the things that you should consider for your next phone purchase.
