The Computer and Smartphone Club meets the last Thursday of every month except December at the Petaluma Senior Center from 2:00 – 3:30 PM. The Center is located at 211 Novak Drive, Petaluma. There is no charge to attend.
Each month, a different topic is discussed. The meetings are led by knowledgeable people who are prepared to talk about the issues and answer questions about the topic of the day. Once or twice a year, a meeting is devoted to Q&A when attendees are encouraged to ask questions about computers, smartphones, tablets and the apps or operating systems that run on them. Members of any SIR Branch and their significant others are invited to attend. If you would like to be placed on an email list to receive notices of future meetings, please email email@example.com with your preferred email address and your first and last names.
Past topics have included:
- How to be Your Own Tech Support Expert
- Cloud Computing
- Computer Hardware Fundamentals
- Cutting the Cable TV Cord
- Upgrading to Windows 10
- Digital Photography
- Online Resources for Seniors
The next meeting is scheduled for January 25, 2018.
At this meeting, we will revisit a topic that we covered three years ago, BUYING & SELLING IN THE DIGITAL WORLD. Much has changed in the last few years. It is easier than ever to sell your stuff and to find fantastic bargains for the things you want to buy. And, it is much safer to buy and sell online than it used to be. Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, just became the richest man in the world, surpassing Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. If you think online sales is not for you, think again.
In addition to the old standbys Amazon, eBay and Craigslist, new services such as Nextdoor, Etsy and Shopify have come online and big companies like Walmart are jumping in with huge resources. That means more competition and lower prices. The technology has advanced so far that you can even make your own personal online store with a few clicks of the mouse!!
If you want to buy or sell online or are simply curious about the subject, don’t miss this meeting.
